SHERYL BUDNIK
AUTUMN / WINTER
‘Storm Brewing’ was the first of the Lake Superior series. ‘Gathering Apples’ shows my dog twice in the
painting. While picking windfalls, “to make pies when it is cold”, my daughter dressed in her winter play
mask and coat. The painting followed. My winter paintings show "the ways deep and the weather sharp",
T.S. Eliot. The heat of a sunrise and an overnight ice storm come together in the painting ‘Hoarfrost’.
Another has rotten snow, that snow at the end of the season coupled with the longer light at the end of a day
— a promise of Spring.
